Upper Town and Old Town

In the heart of Marburg, you can discover the idyllic and charming old town and upper town. Many small alleys and shops invite you to stroll. When strolling through the upper town, it is recommended not only to look at the appealing displays of the small shops but also to occasionally look up. This is rewarded with the richly decorated ornaments of the half-timbered houses.

Anyone who wants to mingle with the locals at the weekly market should visit on market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays: The Marburg weekly market on the market squares Firmaneiplatz and Frankfurter Straße is a „Green Market“, offering numerous specialties and fresh products and takes place on the following dates:

Schlossberg Center

Also in the center of Marburg is the Schlossberg Center on Universitätsstraße – as the name suggests, directly at the foot of the Schlossberg. Close to the Ahrens department store and the upper town, the Schlossberg Center offers the perfect conclusion to your shopping tour in Marburg.
