Our varieties: An overview of the diversity
Our goal in growing strawberries is to cultivate healthy and aromatic varieties. The foundation for this is laid in the fall. The soil is optimally prepared for the growth of strawberries through compost. Once the strawberries have finished blooming in spring and set fruit, straw is spread between the rows to ensure evaporation protection. The delicate fruits are thus optimally protected.
Our offer includes a variety of different strawberry varieties, all characterized by the highest quality and unmistakable aroma.
The cultivation: Only the best for the berry
The raspberry from the rose family was already cultivated in monasteries in the Middle Ages. Raspberries are perennial cultivated plants and are planted in spring. Since the roots are very sensitive to soil compaction, the raspberries are placed on small mounds. For this, special green cut compost is spread in a row, mixed with the soil, and then a small mound is formed into which the raspberries are planted. The cultivation of raspberries is pure manual work and extremely time-consuming. After the harvest, all old canes must be carefully cut out in autumn. In spring, when the shoots sprout anew, they must be tied up individually again. The harvest also requires the utmost care, as it is important to carefully pick the ripe fruits by hand every day.
At Hofgut Dagobertshausen, we plant the queen of raspberries: the Tulameen. It has a long, conical shape and is excellent in taste. The Tulameen is currently the highest quality raspberry variety - and therefore the only one we use to make our popular field-fresh raspberry jam.
